To whom the temple belongs….

History views Akavoor Chathan as the man who holds the key to the creation of the temple. And we believe that the temple had come up during the period of Agnihotri. Both belong to the Parayipetta Panthirukulam (the heirs of Vararuchi, who is said to have 12 sons who are considered to be embodiments of Lord Vishnu. Hence, the temple is rightly held by Akavoor, Vediyoor and Venmani.

But due to the changes in the Land Ownership Act 1970's the three Manas found it difficult to keep the ownership alive, and transferred the right to the Devaswom Board. A year later this right was surrendered to the Manas. From then on a society to govern the temple was formed with the public support. This saw drastic medernisation process and the temple were well ahead in its development. Further during May 1991, the established governing body and the Manas decided to hand over the rights and duties to a trust, known as the THIRUVAIRANIKKULAM MAHADEVA TRUST. The members consisted of the Manas and the former governing body.

THIS TRUST IS EXEMPTED UNDER SECTION 80.G OF I.T ACT

The trust, till date has carried out a lot of innovative and developmental activities. A few of them are listed below:

  • Kerala Varma Upper Primary Sanskrit School and the Primary School, previously controlled by the Akavoor Mana was taken over by the trust and is successfully managed.

  • All those temples bearings the ravages of time were perfected by the trust and the surroundings made clean and the boundary walls erected.

  • A comely pandal was put up in the forefront of Devi Parvathi's Sreekovil.

  • The Vatta Sreekovil which had eroded by the passage of time was renovated using Chembuthakidu (bronze) without losing sanctity.

  • Chuttmbalam where circumambulation by the devotee is done was reconstructed for the use of the Thantris and temple people. Comfort stations were constructed for the benefit of the devotees. Sodium Vapour bulbs were put in on the temple premises. The Cuttmbalam of Lord Mahadeva, Satidevi, Mahavishnu is under construction. A new auditorium and a perceptible office are in the making. The trust, for the purpose of making parking spaces, transformers and comfort stations has bought an estimated land of 3 acres.

The trust is also looking forward to building decorative towers and making staying facilities for devotees, and various other amenities. This, we believe, is possible only through the unstinting support of the public and devotees.

The trust has also procured, with the help of the KSRTC Management, straight buses from Aluva, Ernakulam, Angamaly and Chalakudy bus stands to the temple.
